Combines R62 Battery Voltage

Would be best to check out with digital voltmeter starting at alternator then starter then both terminals of two terminal circuit breaker on engine then both the large terminals on master solinoid in the cab. Would be best to do this with engine running and electrical loads applied. Rule of thumb is no more than .1 volt loss at connections and .2 volt loss at switches. Most likely problem is the master cab solinoid and you can quickly check without voltmeter by hooking a heavy jumper wire from heavy post to other heavy post. Might want to be sure ground wire under cab is clean and tight also. Good luck

We had a R62 with electrical problems results was one battery which was shorting out. The other battery voltage, as the batterys heated up as you were combineing you could see the voltage drop, we also discovered paint behind some of the ground wires, which helped after we cleaned them our voltage increased .9 The batterys were replaced and that fixed the problem in our case. Hope this helps

While working on your electrics, I would suggest that a heavy duty isolator switch be put into the battery line. We put ours under the batteries [ 94 R62 ] and accessible from the outside and above the r.h. rear wheel. Reason; The solenoid on the injector pump had a wiring fault and shorted out. The associated fire works and sheets of flame nearly required a personal change of underwear! All this in the middle of 320 acres of a very ripe wheat crop. The only way of stopping the pyrotechnics display was to disconnect the batteries, at the starter motor in this case. Prompt installation of an isolator switch followed to enable any other such exciting events to be nipped in the bud ! Cheers.

What type of switch did you get and where did you get itIJ The ones I have seen are prohibitively expensive. Thanks

we mabe one out of a 500v fuse eg out of main house hold line just weld a solid link across fuse so as not to blow it mount it next to main power line hang a small rope on it when in srife pull the rope ps some l2S had 2 alternators Bocsh type eg 2 by 80 ampers just my bit

We have had to add an eight gauge wire from alternator output to cab solenoid (along with the original wire). This way there is no voltage loss.
