is the rubber snubber on main drive idler arm compressed approx. 1_2 inchIJ are edges of idler polished on one sideIJ we have had to replace both the bushings in idler arm and the pivot assembley.idler would look aligned when under load but would come out of line on reverse torque--eg. going down hill or pull back quickley on hydro lever when on road.

Pete We had this problem on our 93 R62 when we first bought it in 2000. At high rpm-low load conditions, governor on some of the Deutz V8's starts a rapid pulsation, causing the main drive belt to start whipping. Snubber will not stop the whip. If it whips hard enough and long enough, the belt will jump a groove on the pulley on main drive shaft. When that happens, things head south real fast. We went through three sets of belts on this machine the first week we had it in the field. Dealer finally discovered that AGCO has a governor spring update kit for FIP. If properly installed and adjusted, it should control the pulsation. We learned the hard way that you need to have a dealer whose service people really know the Deutz engine. We have since corrected that problem. TomF

If it is lined up perfectly (a must when main drive belt was freshly replaced) he need to have pump reworked per Tim. The high idle low load micro surge can not be felt by operator but is very evedent by observer behind combine or someone driving along side watching belt. Sometimes problem can be temporarly improved by snuging both gov springs a few clicks and then rechecking high idle. He needs to ASAP get pump pulled. Pump shop will balance pump flows and should replace rubber buffers and pay close attention to gov gaps. Gleaner dealer should supply the pump shop with the four spring kit. Kit number can be found in approx 1994 combine engine service bulliton. If they can't find number let us know. Anyway keep in mind also that there is no acception for the need to check alignment of belt idlers when installing new belts. New belts do not allow for much misalignment and it is hard to turn down warrentee requists buuutttt!!!!!! Thanks for helping out your fellow Gleanerian.
