Combines R62 milo problem

I assume you are harvesting green leafy milo. Had the same problem on my R62. First of all pull all of the wires out of left hand seperator grate. Then install cage material, which comes in two sections from Agco, or lowen has it as one piece without bolt heads exposed. No need to pull rotor out to install. Remove cage section just above left hand seperator grate from engine compartment. Once you have cage material installed, you will then want to plug the holes where the wires were. Agco concave hole plug kit (Partn 71371547) covers 250 holes. Although there is 480 holes so you will need 2 kits. With these holes plugged the cage should stay clean thus allowing grain to fall freely. I hope this corrects your problem as it did mine. Good luck!

4-star I was wondering if you can leave it in for other cropsIJ Also which one of the cage material did you get to useIJ

No milo around hear but I have many reports of covers reducing or eliminating green milo loss. We have put them in to reduce barley loss and to prevent rolling edible bean straw at the super low cylinder speeds. Helps prevent grinding canola straw and sunflower heads also. We harvest spring wheat, soybeans and corn with them in also. Or corn is low yealding and taken off at less the 20%. High yeilding wet corn could well need the seperator grate. The loewen cover is two piece also. Other ways we have accomplished the same as covers is welding short pieces of removed wires to top of existing wires (ever other removed),cut out seperator grate and bolted in a replacement made of cage material by loewen, and with newer machines with adjustable grate we removed it and installed replacement made of cage material by loewen. Gleaner has a high wide wire seperator grate for the newer machines which may well help the situation. Maybe Hypers idea of cutting and moving ever other crossbar back would do the trick also. The most easy thing to reverse if you see fit is the covers. let use know how you get along. I don't know if you got your cylinder bars extended yet but that could complicate your problem if you don't.

Yes your machine will perform well in all crops. It basically makes your P3 like the P1 in this area. I went with the cage cover from Agco, then hardsurficed the smooth head bolts that are exposed in the cage. Although the loewen grate cover would do well also, I just didn't know of it at the time. As Dan mentioned in the post below the extended bars would help, but if you are in the middle of harvest those could wait. Installed mine in the field and the R62 did an exceptional job. But be sure and plug your concave holes where you pulled the wires. The combine will do real well until material gets stuck into these holes after a day of running. If you need any more help call Agco Engineer John Keller at (620) 327-5726 or any of the experts on this good site.
