Combines r62 questions

If you liked the performance of the stock 62 wait untill you do all the mods then you will be amaized at how much smother it will run. This is the first year I never pluged the rotor or chopper running beans. we used to say that we would run beans untill we pluged the rotor but I can't stay awake 24-7

personally, if it did not have the extended bars, I would sure put them in. I would also extend the heilical over the upper lh feeder house inlet. This will prevent wear of the cyl bars in the double pass area. Installing half height bars in lieu of reverse is a good deal. Yup, they are good right out of the box but ohh-la-la ...

Nice to hear all the comments, thanks and now on with a little other information for you, first of all we traded a 97 R52 in on this 62, what a difference in capacity, power and not one time this fall did we plug the feeder house. The power this machine has is really awesome, 285 hp and you can't even feel a slug going through, the electronics work perfectly. We are running a 20' 800 flex head, we couldn't get the 22' flex head we wanted until next year and we are going to be trying corn in a couple of days running a 8 row narrow poly hugger head. The 62 does have the extended bars but is completely stock from the factory. This is the reason i am asking what else we should be doing to it to tweek its performance and the job it does. Hope anyone can tell me a bit more, thanks.

Just out of curiousity, why do you want to get a 22ft flex head if you are running a 20ft flex head, its just a matter of 2 extra feetIJ In my opion, if the 20ft is in good condition, then I wouldnt waste the money on a new one.

We ordered the combine with a 22' but none were available from the factory or any other dealer for that matter so we ended up with the 20' instead. I hope Agco gets its act together in the future.

Ran both an r52 (1200hrs) w_20'head and a new r62 w_ 24 ft head.

We are thinking the same now, with the 20' we were still able to go down the roads with it but we are going to have to cart the 22' so might as well go with the 25'. The dealer will make allowances and have the 25' for next year, we hope. We are running the 8 row hugger head in corn and it works perfectly with the 62.

That is the very reason we still only run a 15' head on our 52. I know it would easily handle a 20' head and even do a better job going slower, but we have so many 16' gates and lanes around here to get to small fields. Also know where you are coming from about customers and their trees and brush!! There is also a large farm nearby with a 9600 - he runs only a 20' head so ease road travel. I guess it just depends on the situation you're in. If we had large fields, it might be worth it to remove the head between them.
