You would want the front opened up about 1_4 inch or so more than the rest of the chaffer. This will give you a bit more capacity on your shoe. As for the exact settings for wheat, someone else will have to help you there - we don't grow wheat around here. A person could also fabricate another lever to adjust that front section if you're handy with a hammer and fire wrench (torch). Just add another lever like the ones already there and make a control rod that extends to that front section. That way you could "fine tune" that precision silver instrument until she makes beautiful music without having to remove the chaffer.
