Daniel, In hard to knock out wheat you will need to run 0 to 1_4" and the front grate one or two marks closer to cylinder than mid position. You will need two or three concave filler ribbons and tailings returned to cylinder for tough to knock out wheat. If you have easy to knock out wheat you may be able to get it all out of the head at up to 3_4" clearance and front grate set at mid position and no tailings returned to cylinder. If you have the tailings return to cylinder option you could set control to just reclean the tailings and not rethresh for the easy to thresh wheat. You see it makes quite a difference with all the varietys out there. You will notice some more power being consumed the closer you have the clearance but mainly when you get extremely tight. I wonder if you have your cylinder bars extended if you are having problem with power and how many reverse bars are installed. That machine should have the feeder shocks but maybe the feed chain strippers are in front and rear and that could screw up the feed in wheat which gobbles up the power. Hope that helps you out. Dan
