Yes, the hydraulic spreader will spread better and wider. Being able to dial in the correct speed for varying conditions is very valuable. From not throwing corn cobs to far spreading as wide as possible in soybeans and small grains it ought to be standard. It also will save wear and tear on the returns elevator chain and related parts. You will never have the bevel gears wear out on the mechanilcal spreader or have belt slippage problems. It will run faster then the regular spreader if you need a wider spread.

Cornborer, With the rock trap you should be able to remove a few pieces of sheet metal and hardware and then roll the rock door back into position if you so desire.Nice feature if you have a lot of rocks and empty it daily. I think several on this board will agree that it does affect flow into the cylinder. Good luck with your purchase. Hyper Harvest II

I would definately get the hydraulic spreader, we have had it on a 2005 and now a 2006 R65, works great and you will appreciate it when doing beans at night when they get a little tough, speed the spreader up or down right from the cab, we have the hump on ours and it works well with stones, your really going to like the new Fieldstar, much easier to set up and actually works unlike the last version, hope this helps some and ask anything else if you need.

7" drums, corn and soybean versions have the highwire sep grate, depending on your ability the rear door power fold is nice. If you go with stone door and hump kit, the ez close door closer is much ez ier .
