Combines R65 rotor gearbox

Alignment or lack of lubrication can cause this type of failure.Did the new parts show lack of lubeIJThere was a part change on R62 when we went to new lube system.Were the right parts used in the replacementIJHave had expansion plug push out from over lubing.Alignment can be checked using a laser and putting the lh bearing mount plate back on. See Gleaner service book.There are shims used to align.This area has not been a problem over the years but something has to be wrong to fail this soon.Please keep informed on this site.

Problem found. Once I took out the rotor it was obvious what went wrong. The housing that the female coupler bolts onto the rotor peeled out. In other words the weld broke and has looked like it had been cracked. It's apparent that at one time some it got stressed and cracked causing it to be out of alighnment, once the new parts were replaced the only place to give was the weld causing it to fail. lesson to be learned is; if spline coupler strips out, inspect closely to see if it might be cracked.

we still like 10-15 pumps per 8 hours in this coupling. The older units that have the access panel that has to be removed to get to the zerk fitting will show some remnants of grease slung out if checked after greasing. We also like 80-90w synthetic in the box itself.

I put 20 pumps aday in my old R72 that had the old style greaser. And that many on the outside of the hub. If there isnt grease slung up on the underside of the hopper,you arent getting enough grease in it. IG
