Combines R65 Top feeder chain

I've run a 50, two 52's and a 55 since 89 and have yet to break a feeder chain. Are the bars and sprockets timed to each other so one side doesn't pull unevenIJ Is the chain bottomed out on adjustment or is it excessively tightIJ Maybe and extra link should be added or taken out. Call Agco service and find out if they have some ideas. Just some thoughts.

When I saw the rock sump was standard for '04 I thought oh no. Rock sump wasn't so bad but they removed the solid rock door and replaced with tin so I couldn't just swing them back up with a hump on them. Or if sump was the best choice for my custumers I couldn't fasten finger affair over sump. We caught that when ordering and ordered the optional trap door. Anyway I don't think it is chains fault at all. Other thing that changed over your old machines it the 1_4" thick floors. There is no give to these and clearance was reduced a bit in rear feed. We have did our best to overcome these changes and had no problem at all with the '04 machines. Also check to see if third helical from gearbox is extended over top left corner of feeder and find out if it is factory or custom made. Do you use rear feed sprocket stripper for cornIJ let me know what Gleaner says and I'll let you or your dealer know what else can be done. Take care

For 2005 i understand that Gleaner has gone to a 7" drum instead of the usual 8" drum, i wonder if this will correct the problems, might try Agco and see if they will change this for you, can't hurt. Its too bad Agco can't get some newer more recent literature out there to tell these running changes or at the very least post on the website.

Did Gleaner change the feederhouse at all when they went from 2 series to 5 series, I remember hearing someone say that they might make it longerIJ Did that happenIJ

The feeder chain seems to be the same size. What they changed was no cluth on the drive.

Yes the 7" is standard for '05. A 7" with with W-rings becomes more like a 7.5". We've been ordering machines with 7" front and rear as long as it has been available. We have a few machines that we switched 8" rear with 7" years ago. We don't have trouble with feeders all the time but when we cut the green or wet wheat on the ground and pickup wet canola or wheat swath we can have a tough time. Eliminating turbulance between chains and beyond chains has made a very marked improvement. Had '03 R65 with rock sump and no feeder mods this fall plugging with tough canola. Feeder tention drums running hard against top stop (very full). Then the occasional chunk comes and plugs her up tight. All I did to get him going is install the lTM pulley and belt. The drums then ran fairly consistantly half way up and no plugging. There are better ways to fix other than speed but that was easy at the time. Take care

We are going to be ordering a new R65 really soon, like this week and wondered what else you would order or like to see done to it to make it really work well. like to hear any other thoughts or comments we should be doing or ordering from the factory before we do a deal and also any thing else after that we can do to fully hyperize it, thanks for your thoughts and comments.

I would guess you have corn and soybeans so that would be the base machine to go with. I would get the power fold ladder option especially if you need it out of the way to clear standing crop. I think the AM_FM weatherband radio with CD option would be my choice. You and your dealer should be able to match up tire options to match area and anticipated load. I like the standard 14" swivel unload but you may choose the 12" turret. We order the 7" front drum for I don't see where the 8 5_8" is any better and the 7" gives me more room to work with if I should ever need to. I would order the easy-close concave rock door for you will have something to fasten the rock door hump to. You can still easily convert back to sump by ordering the three brackets and changing length of easy-close rod. You'll need to add chopper and tailings return cylinder to your list if you want them. I realy like the optional hydraulic drive spreader for you can watch RPM and vary speed from the cab as well as it gets rid of the only 90 degree drive on machine. Fieldstar, lTM, and RWA may be good for you or your area. You've surely read up on helical tricks lately and you might want to consider replaceing reverse bars with some sweeps. Might be another rotor option by harvest. Take a good deep breath or two and get ordered up. Take care

Gleaner is going to a different style feeder bat or bar, they are replacing because the previous style would tend to bend and cause the chain to run untrue and cause some feeder chain failures. I would check with your dealer or contact Agco about this problem. The feeder bat that they are going BACK to, is alot harder material and doesnt bend as easy. I think its the same ones they used in the N series machines.

Ten-four on the made in U.S.A. chain your problem is fixed. This chain is diamond chain the other was forgein and alot of other people had the same problem.
