Great undo stress on top feed chain can come from a couple things in some tough conditions. First you may want to consider a rock door with hump installed in place of sump that was standard in '04, second you may want to look at your helical situation where standard setup will purposly drop straw back on left side of feed chain and concave area, third is material from separator side of cage can back up enough in the right conditions to block up feeder flow (forward bars, rotor sweeps, different design rotors all help this situation). 7" drums shouldn't hurt anything for you. If your problem is in some crop other than corn you may want to be sure rear feed sprocket stripper is removed. If you problem is in corn you may want to be sure rear feed stripper is in place.
