Depending on the year of your machine I would say yes. Have dealer check his engine service bullitons. Chaff is likely sneaking in between sawtooth type blades and side panel. The closer you can get that gap the better. Newer machines have wider sawtooth type blades. Front outer air or chaff cutoff is much longer on newer machines. We extended that cutoff with rubber apron years ago with great results and also closed gap between sawtooth blades and side wall. We moved screen in on bearings or installed weather striping foam between sawtooth blades and side panel. I think the easiest thing for someone not knowing exactly how it all works to do is would be get the wider sawtooth blades and set them as close to sidewall as possible. Good luck
