Sounds to me that the feeding is the problem. If a 800 head with Crary air reel is out of the question than you should try the suction tube behind cutterbar trick. Do you have corn strippers in either front or rear feedIJ Are feed chain tention springs tightened to 5.1" or slightly tighterIJ Do you have a rock sump kit installedIJ Does one side of header feed better than the otherIJ Have you changed fuel filtersIJ How many reverse barsIJ What position are feeder drum stops inIJ Do you have a chopper or discharge beaterIJ Sorry about all the questions but I'm sure we can get you going with a little more info.

Yea, all that stuff Dan said! And since I've nominated myself as the Poster Boy for the suction hose mod to improve bean feeding, I'll toss in another vote for that. That 72 outta be pushing that 25' head to warp speed in those beans if the head is feeding smoothly. All the symptoms you describe - auger jamming, feeder clutch slipping, power problems, all point to slug feeding from the head. Especially since problems are occuring at the head. Good luck!

You have something not set right. I have a farmer close by that has an R72 and a 30 foot head and runs 4 to 5 mph in 50 to 55 bu_acre beans and has no problems. He got his machine at wheat cutting and that has to be the most awesome combine I have ever been on. His brother has a 9610 JD and has a full time job keeping in the field with the R72. He is an old Gleaner owner and knows how to make them go. I think you will find out the problem and redeem your self in the bean field..........
