Combines R72 unloading auger help

I'd pull the auger back out. Remove the rubber shock absorber that square shaft slips into. Make sure all the rubbers are in place. After making sure this is good put it back in. Now find a shaft that just fits into shock absorber and stick a ball bearing onto it. Now set it on blocks so you can turn auger. The heavy side will go to the bottom. Now tack weld some weight to back side of flighting on the light side. I'd suggest to add the weight 1_3 from start of flighting and 1_3 from end of flighting. Keep adding weight until auger stays in place when you turn it over slowly. This will get it close enough. Good luck

Thanks Dan - replaced the shock absorber and that alone helped alot. I'm still getting used to the R72 after always having l2s. Sure wish I could get you to look the machine over and tell me what else it needs and fine tune everything - any chance you'll be in Kansas before JuneIJ Maybe you could make a little vacation out of it and check on the hyperizing of all Gleaners between here and there - kind of a Gleaner Combine Road Show! Thanks again!

Thanks for the information. I was going to pull Auger this summer as we can't grease steady bearing and was wondering about rubbers. Always figured the auger vibration was a Gleaner design to wake up the operator to empty grain tank.

Check the balls and track on swivel, too much slack there will cause auger to be out of alignment and will shake the way you describe. I had one doing the same on 62

Wish I could find some free time to visit you in Kansas. Don't think I'm going to have any time to sneak away. Ray would be a great catch for you but I'm afraid he is all ready booked solid. Sounds like next step for your auger is to balance it. You won't know it is engaged if you get it right. Good luck
