Here's a tall tire for you! If you have enough clearance on top, it should raise the machine about 3" over a 30.5. For spaced out singles, I like the frame extensions with a tie rod like they use for duals.
I like the looks of that tire. I am also considering the Firestone 76X50.00 - 32 that is 48 inches wide. That tire is an option on the new 8010s. Maybe I could care where the corn rows are hitting this tire as it will distribute load over a huge area. I talked at length recently with a Firestone engineer, and with a 500 bushel tank on an R75, I think it will make a great match. I will need a rear steering setup with at least 50% more area on the ground than Gleaner's options. I'm working on that. Thanks!
The big Titan, Michelin, and Firestone are all rated for nearly the same max capacity. Which one you go with will depend on other factors. We like the soft ride, low ground pressure, and excellent wear characteristics of the Michelin. The Firestone is by far the best choice if you want bias ply. The Titan would really shine for extra ground clearance, but I think it would have the lowest quality rating of the three.
Any thoughts as to whether a combine front tire needs to be a radial design or notIJIJ I use Trelleborg on my R72 now which is a bias and has worked great.
We have one set of the Trelleborg 900's. They are quite a tire, but our's vibrate on the highway. Maybe because we have them on 30" rims instead of 27"IJ Do your's vibrateIJ Anyway, we really like the Michelin radials a lot better. They are very smooth in all conditions. Price is the only downside, in my opinion.
I have 850_55 - on 42inch rims. They are so tall that we must use the axle risers. They vibrate bad about 10 to 14 mph and then are smooth faster and will run about 25 to 26 mph on the R72. If you run radials at a pressure to get longer pad on ground, I would think they allow more tip to combine on hillsides, which I would not want. Any comments on that anyone has experiencedIJ I am talking of big diameter tires(almost 80 inches),so I am not thinking the radial longer pad on the ground is a big factor, and the radials will usually cost much more than bias types.
Doug, I didn't think you had any hills around there! I have a brother in law who runs a Bauerbilt tire store, and he has always advised against radials on most combines for the reasons you gave. Corn in yetIJ Have a good one.
