You'll find when you buy the new fan bearing they will sell you the "updated" bearing. The holes in the mounting plate will be 10 mm instead of the 8mm that you took off. The patten will be diffrent also the update will bolt on the 1688 engine but when you're doing it you'll think someone gave you the wrong part. They changed the mounting of the fan bearing when the 2188 came out and unless you update the front cover of your CDC you can't update to the bigger bolts beacuse you don't have the clearance. I asked the local service manager about it and he informed me that it was a non issue because they have never had a failure associated with the bolts. Dean

Dingo: I apologise, but I'm not sure if I understand. Should I install the kit without the new front cover, with the new cover, or do nothingIJ Thanks CW

Don't worry about changing the front cover. But I would defenantly change the fan bearing. Just be aware that the one your going to get from case is going to be a little diffrent than the one you took off. I've done the switch and haven't had any problems.
