Did you check the bearingsIJ If they are gettig rough that might cause it to slow down. Good luck.

The rotary screen on my 1460 spins every bit as fast as the old 715...the cause probably has a lot to do with the radiator plugging... check brush seal as it may be worn and binding

The brush seal does drag some which may be the problem because even after I blow the radiator clean it still spins slowly. The bearing seem ok. With your screen spining fast how often does your radiator need cleanedIJ

on our 1460 the screen spins fast, and we dont clean it but once a year. I had daily trouble with my 915.but I did notice the fins on the 14 are a lot more open and further apart letting the dust go through instead of plugging. maybe someone replaced the core with to close together fins.my 915 had closer fins and had to be cleaned sometimes twice a day.the 1460 will cut 2000,2500 acres easily without having to be cleaned and runs plenty cool.

The only good way to clean the radiator is to spend about a hour with a pressure washer and work on it till the dirt isnt blowing back at you and the water starts to be clean instead of full of bean dust. I know people are dont like to use power washer but you are wasting your time with air. Good luck.

You could have an air leak around your access door or the bottom clean out door this would slow your air screen down and let the radiator plug. I have found that setting a good light source in side the air box at night and then looking around all seams you should not be able to see light if you do replace the foam seal strips or silicone the gaps

I agree with Doug in Iowa you need to pressure wash the radiator to get it cleaned out. I had the same problem last year with my 1480. I removed the radiator from the machine and then spent an hour or two pressure washing it. Have not had any problems since.

Chopper, Clean my radiator once a week probably for my peace of mind more then need.... some good info above but think you can see if plugging is the problem as some posts suggest and hard packed dirt is difficult to get out....have read on other machines that there is a big advantage to wide spaced fins but that would only pertain if you just recored...so good luck on looking for the problem..let us know what you find

Had the same problem as you. Any warm day would cause it to run hot. I couldn't push the machine on a cool day. The screen was slow too but I found it was because of restricted air flow at the core. I changed the horsehair ring around the screen that helped some. I might add here that I've bought entire horses cheaper. Then I blew all I could out the cores, meaning trans. cooler, air cond. and radiator. Then I used a pressure washer but found that it bent the fins so I backed off and settled for a pressure nozzle for a common garden hose. Water will soften the hardened dirt and chunks will come out the front. Then start the engine and let the fan pull the rest thru the backside while you hose the front. Goes with out saying don't do this with a hot engine. Then replace the seals at the bottom drop door and put a self tapping screw in each end to help keep it tightly closed. Also check around the top of the radiator for chaff leaks. When you do this the speed of the screen at idle will be as fast as it was at full throttle. Never see the needle past center on the hottest day now and I push it all the time. Dust that gets in now is small enough to pull way thru. Hasn't heated for a whole season. But I recommend cleaning BEFORE putting away for the winter because thats how it hardens in the cores in the first place.
