If the beans are dry , no problem. although my personal preference is 25' head in 55 bu beans. 62 will do excellent job up to 90 bu wheat, but seem's to run short on HP if wheat gets any better.

Input I've heard is the raised feather sheets work just great if your in a condition where they are needed. Sometimes the beans are so short that even the raised feather sheets won't cure problem but that would be very rare. The 3 to 3.5" OD tube fastened behind cutterbar has worked very well for many. The HCC level 2 reel with the steggered fingers would be my choice if I couldn't have the air reel or air assist deal they have now. I would lean toward narrower header for I like to drive faster for I believe that helps feeding but if you drive so fast that you can't cut clean then you would be better off with wider. Anyway head will work just great the way it is but then you can run into them conditions where you would wish you were set up to feed in just anything in any condition. Anyway thats my $.02 on feather sheets. No you don't need a small seeds kit for wheat. I'm unsure where a small seeds kit is needed, maybe some of the very lightest crop out there. We installed a kit or two over time but found them to be of very little benifit in the crop we were in.

Even if machine has all forward extended cylinder bars ect. HP is going to be limiting factor on most all R62s in most all crops. The 2000 he is asking about has 285HP so it should easily handle more then the oldest R72s that only had 270HP. Just thought I would make that point to bring attention to the particular year that a Gleaner is can make a big difference in its capacity and weather any engine or prosessor modifications have been made. Take care.

You will have to have him call dealer central, it is standard now so in their standard operation it was removed as an option and noone thought to reinstall it as a field installed option. As a suggestion, you might order one piece from parts 71386776 and ,shh, take it to a sheetmetal place and have them bend a galvanized piece of home AC ducting to match. You might even raise the front lip abit higher and form a "^" shape more aggressive than factory. The hinges are 71387491 and are a bit pricey and can be made from pattern as well if y ou have the time from an old wear plate and tube. Hinge rods are a piece of cake or one can order them. Keep in mind they will not replace the feather sheets, these lay on top of them. Broken sheets will have be replaced or they will mess up the float.
