Combines rattle on 9500

Hi Al, Sounds like the same noise we had on our 9600 3 days ago. We took the side service doors off by the concave and the last bar on the beater grate was loose. If it had broken the last weld,it would have gone thru the chopper. This may your problem or it may be something else. To me the noise sounded like there was an auger finger caught in the stone trap. Hope this helps and let us know if it does. D.W.

May need to check the end of your Tailings auger. The wooden block is probably wore out, replace it with a bearing.

Could it be tailings auger return to the top of the cylinder somestimes if worn or bent. It will rattle . I have broken fingers or guards off the header they sometimes end being rethrashed and can get lodged in talings return auger also.

Check your shoe feed augers. The back support bolts came out on ours on one side and half the augers came out of the support and were slapping around in there.

From your description, it sounds like a problem I had this year. I had to replace the bearings in the variable speed pully for the feederhouse-header drive. Although mine started out more as a rumble than a rattle. If the noise occures with just the seperator running it could be the returns auger as some other posts have mentioned. I had to replace a bearing there last year. It caused the returns auger to flop around and rattle.

The rattle is only heared when doing corn, My shoe augers have new upper and lower bearings and my feeder house bearings are new as well as my drum bearings. Any other suggestions thanks

The thing to check is electric magnetic clutch which drives the feeder house. Our 9400 runs smooth and quiet until I do corn. Put the cornhead on and then it rattles like crazy. I had JD dealers out and replaced shaft and bearings or any thing else we could think 0f. No difference NOluck it has been like it 100's of hrs. I figure sooner or later something will fly apart and we will know exactly what it is.
