Our '98 2388 doesn't either, and that's the way it is supposed to be. The screen is run off of the PTO oil, and shouldn't turn when the separator is not engaged. Maybe your friend's is just free-wheeling or something. Or maybe they changed something up in '99, but I don't think they did.

Have your dealer order 328860a1 rotary air screen kit. This will keep your screen turning all the time. There is a service bulletin associated with it as well.

The kit was released because it was found that chaff would build up on the screen with the separator off (driving across the field to unload etc).

In late 1998, a bulletin was released with the kit number and it also stated that effective JJC0265306 all 2388s would rotate whenever the engine was running. European 2388 had a serial number of JJC0188702 and after.

Thanks for the info. We have never had a problem with it, but good to know there is a kit available if we do.
