Combines REAR FEED CHAIN

Had the same thing on my R40. The slats were mis-aligned form side to side on the sprockets. Took all the slats loose and rolled the chain around a few times. Straightened the the slats out. Retightened. Worked fine every since.

What are you harvestingIJ If corn you may need rear feed chain stripper. This is bracket assembly located just ahead of rear feed sprockets. Are tention springs set to 4.9"IJ If you take a look inside feeder where the arms are that support tention drum are located. See that the bolts in rear of the arms are in the front holes. If they are in the rear holes the front and rear chain could be getting into each other. Rear holes were put in straps for when a 7" tention drum was installed but unfortunatly this could allow the chain slats from front and rear chain to contact each other well before you could see it was time to remove half link. While your at it take a look up the feeder to see that triangle filler accross feeder top left corner is not oversize and blocking flow leaving feeder into cylinder area. Are you running rock sump that need to be cleaned regularlyIJ Are you running standard helicals threwoutIJ Check for failed bearing. With a failed bearing in tention drum you would notice chain drooping on one side or the other and one side would be self tentioned further than the other if spring were adjusted properly. let us know what you find

had that on a r50. put a round slug inside the bracket where the spring is located inside the chamber so the bracket couldn't move as far and never had a problem again.

R62, never had the jumped chain on Cog syndrome! but I have just installed new feed chains on both front and back elevators and we always loosen off slats and fire up header and give it a run at low idle with the loose slats. This allows the slats and chains to find there happy spot and then climb back up inside and tighten up with air gun. Oh what a fun job that is! :roll: Im sure this has helped us in not having the jumped Cog syndrome, as we have done this setup technique from new. Rolf PS: Today will see if the feeder floor mods has helped the inflow of wheat straw! as I'm going to be doing a bit of recreational harvesting on my wheat!
