Combines red head on a green machine

I know where you are coming from. We had a 9610 and a smaller Case IH combine just in beans. We have had the 9610 for 4 years now and have taken the reverser out 3 of the 4 years. John Deere reverser are just plain junk plain and simple doesn't matter the model guys around here from 9610's to 9760's have all taken the reversers out. We have a cooler on our combine and that hasn't help at all the problem with them is not so much the reverer it self the problem is with the variable speed feeder house drive. Feeder house drive belt slips to much causes heat and boom out goes 2000 grand or better out of your pocket. Deere company men will admit this if you can get them cornered long enough just threaten trading that's what we did. One thing that really conviced us was when we talk to a Drago corn head salesman at Farmfest in Iowa asked him if you can run these on a Deere Combine we new there was no way the reverser could handle a chopper head. He told us over in Europe they have them running on Deere combine and have never taken a reverser out because they switch the feeder house to a single speed feeder house and just change the speed of the corn head with sprockets. Asked Deere about this and yes you can change your feeder house back to a single speed feeder house for guess whatIJ 800 dollars. So go and ask your dealers if you can change your feeder house back to a single speed cause it works. 2 years running a 9750 no reverser problems and love my Drago corn head. I was so close to trading for a red combine some days i wish i had cause the repair cost our killing me on this 9750. The thing that gripes me the most is why so they have to have a reverser that runs all the time with all that horsepower running through it nobody else does.
