A specialty rotor is recommended for edible beans. CIH rep once told me all you need to do was to harvest edible beans was too "pull the rotor, get a 4.5 inch grinder and smooth up every sharp edge you can find on the rotor and cage and then make sure that the beans your harvesting will pass under every auger in the combine to prevent pinching damage." I have seen bean germ test research where beans harvested with a CIH rotor had as good a germination rate as hand harvested beans.
