Around here everyone bolts a piece of baler belting onto at least one reel slat of their pickup reels to sweep the knife clean in short crops. What I do is weave the belting in front and behind the fingers two fingers at a time. Then make a couple of narrow strips of belting and go over the top of the slat and back down the other side and bolt it back to the belting. To make kind of a loop to hold it on. Relatively cheap and works quite well.
