remove throat front brg housing elephant ears too it makes it easier slide out use a come along on back conect to rotor so it doesn't fall out take cover off front of gear box top lay thin metal strip on concaves to slide back in use come along to suck back in, a front end loaded would help AlOT!

Very easy to do with a front end loader or forklift. Take throat off. Postion loader bucket or forklift under lip of channel iron that holds rotor bearing then take bolts out that hold channel iron to frame. Slowly back away. Might have to hook the rotor to the loader with a chain to get the rotor to start sliding out. When rotor is about halfway out, hook a chain about halfway up the rotor under a rasp bar and fasten it to the loader to support the back of the rotor. then just back away from the combine with the rotor. No need to take off the bearing or elepahnt ears to get the rotor out. To instal, reverse the process. Use a come a long to pull the rotor back into the hub. You can lay a 4x4 across the sheet metal right behing the grain bin to hook the come a long to. Can be a little tricky to get the rotor to slide into the hub. Be sure to replace the bushings and bolts in the back of the rotor. Also replace the kickers as you cant get to them with the rotor in.

I haven't done it for awhile but it's not that hard to drop the rotor out. From what I remember there is a mystery bolt (I beleive it's a 3_8's) that is on the big front bearing hanger plate that bolts to the rotor cage. This was on a 1480. Good luck and don't get hurt, that thing really slides out once you get it moving.

It looks like they have done well just be carefull and take your time I like the 4X4 up on the engine compartment with a come-along and a good cherry-picker. Also look at the cone bolts while in there and make sure that you install the HD ones if they are worn. Should rep the rotor drive coupler with the HD one as well does your macnine have a rock trapIJIJ If it does it would be a great time to install my Razor rock trap beater that will really smooth things out with or without the AFX send me an e-mail if you have any questions.

Your last question needs an answer. Install the AFX rotor and you will like it..... Jack

If your rotor is still in good condition I would install Kile Flights instead of spending the thousands on an AFX rotor. I put a set on my 1688 this fall and am real pleased with the improvement. Costs a little less the $1000 too! Google Kile Flights or e-mail me for more info. Ron Kile is a very nice guy to do business with. And again if your rotor is a Specialty and in good condition I would put in a set of Gordon Bars. Better then the original bars for sure!
