Combines Replace 2388 with 9650STSIJIJ

I traded 2 2388s last year for STS machines. Running them for first time this year. Difference of night and day. STS has way more capacity in all the right areas...especially the clean grain auger. Plus you can go an hour or two earlier in the morning and go that much later at night than the red or yellow machines. You can equip your platform with poly fingers. They can be ordered new from Deere or as a replacement part. (get the green deere ones as they are much stronger than the black mae-wes fingers.) Oh, and my dealer oredered the extra high capacity air cleaner on my 9650s, so that's not a problem either. I've been red or yellow (anything but green) all my life, and I'd never thought I'd say this, but I guess nothing really does "run like a deere."

Please explain why it is possible for you to start cutting 2 hours earlier with the STS machine and cut 2 hours longer. Four hours a day extra productivity is impressive, but I'm unsure why that is possible with the STS. Also, what is the part number for that extra high capacity air filterIJ

The IH combines are designed to rope the material through the rotor and concave, the deeres are still like there conventional machines the way they feed. The accelerator MATTS it out evenly before it gets the the STS, that is what takes all the power aswell as the ROTOR. We've owned an STS since they come out with it and love it. Although we do have air filter plugging problems still. Any help would be appreceated.

We're currently running four 9650STS with now about 1300 separator hours on. We rented a 2388 for 50 hours in wheat this summer. Yes, the STS has more capacity and runs a mile faster. But they wear out terribly bad, too. About the airfilter_radiator, I think, JD has a very flimmsy rotary screen. It lets a lot of dirt pass by. Depending on the conditions, we could run the STS for several days without doing anything. But we also had days, especially in wheat, when we had to blow out the radiator twice a day. I am planing on posting a detailed report about all the problems we had with our STS and JD on this website, when we get home from harvest. CASE is supposed to launch a totally new designed combine in 2003. CAT is supposed to have their new factory running by the end of the year. I hope JD gets some serious competition.
