newt, that is the two piece axle but the flange is pressed onto the axle shaft and should not be removeable..Final drive unit must be removed and the axle pressed out of the gear box which isn't hard but requires a large push_puller.You will have to judge how bad the leak is but it may signal a bearing going bad..We have a salvage yard close by that sells rebuilt finals or may rebuild yours. email if you are close enough to NE ohio or if i can help further..Steve

Have 84 1480 that we just rebuilt a final drive on. Oil was leaking from the seal. The outside bearing was the culprit. Be certain the pinion bearings are good while it is apart. The inside pinion bearing was almost ready to come apart. You must pull out the shaft to check them. This is the 3rd time weve had to rebuild a final drive on this machine. They are definitely a weak spot.
