Are you trying to take it out the bottom. If so with age the casting can get stuck in the housing and be hard to remove. Maybe try to place a chain around the cast and use a long bar to rotate it a little to crack it loose....Just some ideas....Jack

Have done this numerous times from the bottom up. What is a lifesaver is a forklift with a pallet. Set the gearcase with the auger mounted to it on the pallet, lift up while at the same time you twist the auger in around the hydraulic lines. Have a lineup punch ready to hold it up once you get it in place, but be SURE that top is timed correctly. Horizontal ninty degrees after the vertical

There is where you made some more work for yourself. Even though it sounds bad, just flat out taking the tire off the left side of the machine has been what I've found to be the biggest time saver. Zip off the bolts, wheel it forward and lean it against the feeder, and carry on dropping and lifting the new auger. Keep in mind I've never replaced one with a dual equipped machine that didn't already have the two tires off for some other reason. With singles its easy as cake though even if no other work in that area is being done.
