Combines Researching Hump kit

Are you referring to the hump kit on rock doorIJ If so, yes it is a good idea. Really decreases the probability of rock damage in rotor. Has not hindered feeding for us. Other hump kit that I know of is on corn head. That one is a must have also.

Yes, the hump kit for the rock door. I was told it helps the flow into the rotor. Just wondered if it was worth the time and expense.

I believe it is well worth the time and expense. We have the old style where the hump is something like 1" or 1.25" square stock. It has never caused us feeding trouble as far as we know. I think the new style is truly a hump in that it is rounded (like a piece of pipe ripped in half). I think AGCO went to that style to avoid potential feeding trouble. Biggest reason we have ours in is to improve rock protection. Our dealer really pushes these since they had a customer trade to a different color mostly because they ruined thier rotor twice with rocks. loewen manufacturing and probably others sells these kits.

We install the hump kit on every machine except if they are in very heavy rock conditions. The flat rock door didn't give near the rock portection as the hump door that preceded the P3 systems. The square approx. 1x1" iron that fastened to door that Brian mentioned gave us nightmares with feeding but prevented much rock damage. The hump kit provided the extra rock portection over flat door and improved feed between feed chain and cylinder by reducing dead area. The guys in the extremely rocky conditions get the sump kit. We had made up bracket to stretch rods over sump to reduce the potential feeding problems with sump. Doing the upgrades with helicals ect. has reduced the problems associated with tring to run sump. Good luck with your choice.
