Hi Herman. It is always nice to hear from a new guy. I have never had the problem you describe with my P1 R60. I am running my cylinder at 400-500 and the concave at 5_8 with good results in tough green beans. Maybe one of the other guys who is more knowledgeable with P3 processors will pitch in. First of all, Welcome to the Show! I just found this site recently, but have been very impressed with the helpfulness and dedication to our purposes everyone has shown on this site. Now to your return problems. This may not be the cheap fix, but in tough beans my experience has been that the "returns to cylinder" option belongs on every Gleaner. Gleaner did a severe injustice in it's order book where it advised that option only for tough to thresh wheat. I had two new R-60's without it while doing seed beans for Pioneer, and nearly wrecked a bin with wet pods that heated by the bin wall. Next was an R72 with the option, and you can combine 22% beans and not have a pod in the tank or return problems! It is a field install option as well. It will make your (and all Gleaners) a complete combine.

Try snugging front half of concave closer to cylinder and or a couple of concave filler strips.

We think we found the problem. There is a tremendous air blast coming out of the cyl. which on some green material with dry trash can brigde between the RH top concave and back of access door. We have had -so far - 100% success with bolting a N grate block plate to the RH top side of the grate next to the RH Wall. Doesn't hurt capacity in beans because of less than 50bu _a. flow . Should be able to get these from salvage yard or dealer as they were seldom used.

I am running the same combine . Up here in the frozen North we do not have to many problems with green beans. Frost fixes a lot of problems including not quite ripe corn. But we did some wetter beans last week and had no trouble getting them clean. Here are the settings I have been using. In 13%beans you have to look hard to find any cracks. Cylinder 1_8" to 3_16" with a 1_2"wedge 2 filler bars. Cylinder speed 500 to 530RPM chaffer 1_2" to 5_8" and a Bean Sieve. Wind close to wide open I had some green pods, than thightened the cyl down to 1_8" and cleared up the pods with no cracking

Amen to the return to cylinder option. This was our first year with one and we just loved it. I was afraid of cracking more beans (we raise seed beans as well) with it running through the cylinder again but that was not the case. It was great in the prematurly frosted soybeans this fall. lot less pods and reduced the repeats in the return. Otherwise those pods just kept repeating all day. Your right too in that Gleaner should push this option for soybean growers as well!
