Combines Return to cylinder

Bob, my R60 does not have return to cylinder and it has all mods except separator grate. The shoe has more than enough capacity to handle any increased trash, which I assume you are talking about. last year in high yielding corn, the only losses I had were from the cylinder when I tried running below 200 rpm. 300 rpm solved that one. At no time did I notice shoe losses. The reason I dont have a separator grate is I work alone and have to depend on help to do that kind of stuff. We just plain ran out of time when we did the mods. I hope this addresses your question. Tom Russell

I assume you are concerned about the removal of every other wire on the narrow, low wire style concaves, rightIJ Note, some are pulling wires on seperator grate also. Just have faith. We pulled those wires out about 4 years ago with great results, before the other mods. Most corn_soy operators around here have had them out for some time. Our dealer has been pulling them out for years. We have a P1 and P3 with nearly every mod listed on the tips section. Best thing we ever did. We do not have return to cylinder in either machine. Thanks Guys. Am running a 1987 R50 I think a P3 processor. Harvesting crops from Grass through Wheat....but no corn. I think will start by removing the unfixed wires in the lower grate. Yes trash is a concern - have had a little trouble putting trash and grain out over the shoe in heavy crops.

Sounds like overthrash. Grinding up the stems too much. Try slowing down the rotor and or increasing the grate cleareance. Works in wheat anyway.

Return to cylinder is mainly for rethreshing unthreshed heads. It can help in spreading out a very heavy return more evenly over shoe also by sending it threw cylinder again instead of far right side.
