Combines Reverser gearbox won t engage

i would look at the cable first seems has if it has come away from a bracket and letting it float the next step would be to diconnect the cable and see if you can engage the reverser hope it something easy for you

guru, Thanks for the reply. I knew the cable was working because it would take the gearbox out of forward drive and reengage it but it was like it would stop before it got to reverse. I was not able to work on it myself due to other business that I had to deal with, so I called the dealer and they sent a mechanic out. I got lucky. The dipstick had rusted off and fell into the gearcase. They fished it out and put a plug in until the new dipstick comes in. Can you hear the sigh of relief. They said they had seen this many times before. Thanks again, Billy.

leave the new dipstick out and put a vented plug in the hole. Needless to say keep the dipstick plug handy to check the oil level

the bloody dipstick gezzz i should of rembered that one of the 9600 done the same thing well least it was a cheap fix
