Combines Rice rotor vs specialty

Chads: I have a 1460 with the rice and bean rotor like yours. This rotor does a good job in spring wheat with green material in it and also in soybeans, green stemed; you never get any rotor rumble. The only trouble I have is rotor loss in corn. My 1680 has a specialty rotor in it. These two machines run side by side in the field, sure the 1680 has more capacity and has the four straight bars on the rear of the rotor make saving corn easier but I think one rotor is as good as the other.

Thanks My main problem is also rotor loss in corn. I have just the straight up helical bars (20IJ) of them in the back of the rotor. I wish I could put some more threshing bars back in the grate area. In 160 bu corn I'll put over maybe 2 bushel. If the specialty rumbles more than the rice and bean then I think I'll just rebuild my rotor. Would you say that is the caseIJ Chads

Rotor loss in all rotors is from full corn shucks carring the kernels out. The JD STS as well. My system will cut up the corn shucks to let the kernels stay in. It will also cut up the green stem bean straw. We recomend The Disrupter lugs in the grate section and Rice spike bars on the rotor over the grate section only. The retarder bars that are in your rotor also retard the bean straw. Two years ago I had A customer call me to tell me that he thought his grain loss moniter was broke untill he got out and couldn't find any corn on the ground. Call me and I will be glad to visit with you about your problem. Estes Mfg. Co. ask for Don 800-235-4461. Thanks.

Hey Don We went ahead and got the specialty rotor. It is actually a Roschelle rotor. They have put straight seperator bars on it in the middle of the rotor in 2 sections. Is this normalIJ We got threshing bars to go on those lugs if we don't like it. I already have disrupters in. I think I will get some rice spikes to put on the rear of the rotor. I forgot about that, and save the bars that come off there to go back where the straight bars are. Are these what you're calling retardersIJ local farmer says he runs them in corn, then takes them off and puts on threshing bars in soybeans. I,m figuring on putting on a Stewart Steel Axceller kit next year. Thanks for your time Chads
