Well worth it if you have rocks. It will help door respond to rock and aid in feeding transition between chain and cylinder. Adjust door tight enough so normal flow of crop does not trip it open. Triping door from normal crop flow points out problem beyond door like cylinder and or helicals not moving over the straw. Some guys love the rock sump for this reason. Problems in cylinder will not pop the door when running sump. The sump decoys problems with cylinder and damages normal crop flow into cylinder. Did you get your answer on wedge below. I have heard the helical accross top left corner of feeder called helical wedge and more often wedge is concave fit to cylinder like explaned earlier. Just hope you were both on same base when you were wondering about wedge. Hope that made sense.

Works excellent in small grain, corn and beans. I can't imagine where it would be negative unless as Dan says you have to many stones. In beans and straw you have to have even feeding from header (air reel) or some slugs may kick it open.

I don't know of any crops it will hurt you in. If anyone has had bad experience with it it is surely because they are sending slugs up the feeder or they are tring to get more threw rotor than what your currant rotor helical arrangement will allow. Extending third helical across feeder in large P3 with standard helicals reduced load on feed chain, rock door, and left side of concave to a great degree. Steep pitch thresher side helicals reduced load to a greater degree. I make my own helical extention or purchase the loewen one (which is identical to mine) because the Gleaner one can restrict feed coming up the feeder. I will trim Gleaner one to get out of the way of feed flow and transition that helical as necesary. Helicals and cylinder bars also have to be in good enough condition to prevent material from coming straight around cage and subjecting feed chain, rock door, and concave to a double dose of material. Rock doors used to drive me and my custumers crazy but that was before figuring out what was causing it to open. I think the door with hump installed is the most ideal setup for it gives good portection and you can forget about it until light and buzzer comes on. Many of the guys with sumps either don't know they are there or just will not dump it daily. I have found these rock sumps plump full many times and at that the machine is eating all the rocks. It is good the machine can eat rocks without damage some of the time but then you get that one!!!! Best of luck

They were priced nearly identically for years. Didn't realize that Gleaner went up lately. I'll have to check it out. Might want to price Gleaner kit threw machinery if that was quote threw parts dept. loewen hump is a bit taller to make it different than Gleaner and may add a bit more rock portection. Either one will work fine. Good luck

Gleaner and loewen are still priced the same hear in the US. I'd have them be sure they are looking up the right part. Machinery kit number is 71371019 plus freight. Hump only threw parts is 71366837 plus a few bolts. Might be able to get threw parts without freight if stock ordered. Nothing wrong with loewen if Gleaner is more money up there. Good luck As to other guys question on spring length. I believe most are set at 2.5 to 2.6" range. I set them up to nice solid snap when latching.
