I have one on my 925. Real good deal, but not as critical now with no-till and using a land-roller on every acre of soybeans. But it is still nice to keep some beans in. It will not cause a problem in short beans as some may tell you.
aaron we bought the one from johnson bought it on monday. we called the number that chrisman gave us and were able to talk to the guy that invented it and siad if we did not like it we could send it back and get our money back so we said we'd try it and then we called the chrisman MF and bought it. he said it went up $50.00 first time it went up since 88. I tried one on a 930F, it did not help in short beans, the beans stand in front of the guard until enough builds up for the reel to catch and flip over the gaurd. Until then the reel shatters the beans. The one thing I do not like is shatterd beans and dirt build up behind the gaurd level with the top of it, and about 10" behnd it. This makes the cutter bar real heavy on the ground. It did held keep some rocks out but if the reel is set low and pitched back it fliped some over the guard.
I'd say you'll like the Rock-Gard Bean-Saver from WAJohnson as it helps perform both functions as advertised. SODBUSTER may have been able to eliminated his problem of dirt behind the cutter bar by running the head a little lower and letting the cutter bar plane up instead of droop down.
