I have a rock trap on my 2188 and my last machine, a 1680, had one as well. I ran 1480s with out them for years as well. I only replaced one rotor and cage to the tune of about 7K and that was a dozen years ago. Probably easily cost twice that now. There are pro's and con's to these. Feeder capacity is diminished, especially in wet stem soys, with a rock trap. On the other hand, if you have rocks or other debris that occasionally makes it up the feeder, you can save much damage to the machine with a rock trap. There was a post on MT or NewAg MT (or possibly even here) not long ago about one of these for sale. I believe a reply indicated there were multiples of them for sale.
