Combines rolling corn out the back of a 1480

I think the angle of the shoe is adjustable on a 1480. You might try lowering the front of the shoe as far as possible, which I believe would give you an angle similar to later models that are non-adjustable. Anything you could do to raise the rear of the machine up will probably help, like adjusting the rear axle or maybe just switching to larger rear tires. These may help if the corn is walking out over the chaffer, but with high fan speed it may be possible to blow it out also. The high velocity air blast at the front of the chaffer can send wheat airbone, and I assume it can do the same to corn. You could crawl in there and inspect the front of the chaffer and see if it looks like any material is even touching it. Also look up to see if grain is pelting the top of the machine. This would mean you aren't getting the full use of chaffer area, which is kind of limited on the short shoe machines anyway. In that case, the FFS air deflector would help you out by evening the air flow.

Will, I would open the bottom sieve more and speed fan up to 1050 or more. Depending on what your corn is yielding ground speed might be a issue. Also make sure if corn is going out rotor or top sieve. Good luck

if you have a good clean sample in the grain tank but still throwing out the back open the sieves up more till you have a slightly dirty sample check on the ground and see if this has helped the losses then start closing them up till you get a good sample again....you may find you have to run the back return sieve wide to help catch loose grain while going uphill good luck
