Combines rotor adjustment

little al, If you have checked the fuses and they are ok, with the engine off, turn the key on and mash the button to slow the rotor down. If the motor is trying to turn but can't you will see a slight drop in voltage on the volt meter. If that is the case go back in the engine compartment and take the short chain off from the electric motor to the sproket that ajusts the rotor speed. Get those threads cleaned up so you can turn that big sproket by hand and then the electric motor will turn it also. The same goes for the fan speed adjustment. Take that apart to make sure it turns freely. Sometimes when those adjustment are not used for several days during harvest they get all dirty and dusty and those motors just don't have enough power to turn those adjusting screws. I have had to replace one or two of those motors on my combines. They are not that hard to replace if you have minimal mechanical sckills. Hope this helps. K.A.

we had this same trouble on our 1688 last season. With someone in the cab and someone next to the electric motor we found that it didn't have any power. Turned out to be a small earth wire (i think it was earth) around the back of the motor (front side of combine) that had come off. It is real small. A small self tapping screw fixed the problem. Hope this was some help.

i would go with the thread been dirty clean it up has previous postings check to see if ur wires on ur limit switchs are still hooked up ur fan one will just be frozen...from memeory two 10 mm bolts hold it on remove and clean up and i think u will be happy the threads on the rotor it pays to clean often during harvest by just recording ur rotor speed and going right down in rev then taking to top revs then reset to operate this keeps the thread clean hope it helps cheers
