Combines Rotor Belt Adjustment

when you have it slowed down does your rotor rpm match low spec on rotor speed. if it does not it is hard to adjust to your 3 in, spec. if you get it too tight you will not get the motor to pull the spring closed to get high spec. presuming switches are set right. belt usuaiiy slips because of low spring tension. if you run the rotor in the top half of each range should keep from heating belt in hard thrashing crops like green bean stem soybeans. thats why they have 3 speed gearboxes now. and heavier springs. after you tighten the drawbolt, run combine to see if you have the 3 in,

the drive pully on needs to be open to 4-3_8" before you measure the rotor pully so check limit switches just went through these the other day when thrust bearing went out on rotor drive ,made a mess

I was wondering if the 4-3_8" is an inside measurementIJ I seem to go through a rotor belt every 300 engine hr (2 yr)on my 1680 thanks

last I heard they wanted .4 inch clearance measured at the inner most inside of the driven pulley when the drive pulley was set at its slowest speed. even feeding seems to help our rotor belts last longer...they will not stand slugging.
