Combines Rotor belts

JJ, I always run mine till they break. That's about 500 hrs. With experience it doesn't take that long to change one anymore (about 45 min.) and they're to expensive to replace when they are still going strong. K.A.

I don't exactly know, what cracks you're looking at. My experience is, to change them, when the little ribbs on the inside of the belt are getting lost. CASE also came out with this update kit - bigger pulleys, springs and belt. That's what I would put on, if I had an axial flow right now.

you are changing them prematurely. should run at least 600 to 800. during winter take tightness off belt you can do it electrically or go up and step on belt. most cracks are done by freezing. 26 years observation. when running beans or any tough crop keep the rotor speed above half in each rotor gear setting. this will help keep rotor belt from slipping and heating up.

I wonder if the new update kit is worth it if you don't have the AFX rotorIJ I haven't heard anybody doing that yet. K.A

I agree with the rest, run them till they blow apart. The only trouble I have had is once the belt tore and went sideways into the bottom pulley. The inside notches of the belt got under the bottom pulley fingers. This caused much sweating and swearing to get out. On your morning grease and inspection if a crack were almost through the top or some of the inner notches were missing then go ahead and change it. This job is lots easier on a 1680 than a 1660.

The rotor drive improvement package is only for 2388's with 3 speed rotor drive. This is a pretty impressive kit with 900 lb spring,64 degree ramps, new longer seamless belt, larger pulleys, and a new gearbox shifter and spring compressor.I've put one on and am interested in how well it does.

Cost was about 2000 to 2200 dollars. I think the kit was a ship direct kit but I dont have the n here. Its in a bulletin. Service should have it.
