I'd just try it and see. If one of the gears is worn too much to mesh well with the other, you'd probably hear a whine. I imagine they'll wear together after a while. Might want to change out your oil at the end of the season. As far as oil temp goes, down here we harvest corn in late July and early August, in 95 to 100 degree weather. This is done in low range and has never been a problem that I know of. Good luck. Keith
