Combines rotor loss in corn with Gorden Bars

Sounds like the setup you have is for tough bean conditions rather than corn. Gorden bars work best with helical or factory concaves and separator grates. It is not possible to have Gorden bars throughout the rotor and still have straight bars on it. There are several things to discuss. Hey, do you like the kunchar concavesIJ I had some very bad problems when he worked on my 1680. We got them worked out but it still bothered me. He had some good thoughts but it did not work in the real world. just wondering

I just tried both the Kuchar concaves and separating grates this fall in my 1480 with standard rotor. I did not like them. I felt the stock large wire concaves and keystock grates do a better job in both corn and soybeans. In corn I had more cob breakage with the Kuchar setup, and in beans I had more pods in the tank. I think with the Kuchar setup I had more material going across the sieves and it definitely wasn't distributed evenly. It seemed to overload the right hand side more. But Kuchar did let me try them for a couple of days and return them for a refund.

I don't think the wire openings are big enough for the 140-200 bushel corn I am doing. Mr.Gorden advised me that this was my problem with the rotor loss and I believe he is correct. If the thrashed corn doesn't drop through the concave as much as possible, there is only so much the grates will do. My grates for corn and beans are a replica of the back grates in a JD 9650STS. With the Gorden bars, I never change grates or concaves.
