Combines Rotor loss speciality rotor

When you say veins to the rear position, do you mean that you slowed or retarded the veinsIJ That's what you have to do to improve the rotor loss. I had that trouble to at first then I slowed the veins over the concave and the grates and it made a big difference.

We was having this problem with another combine we just purchased. We forgot to remove every other wire from the concaves. Did that plus the vane movement to the rear and problem is solved. Also slowed the rotor speed a little.

I was having the same problem last year. So, I installed a set of used Gordon Bars this year. Best money I've spent in a while. Click on "Bargain Bin" tab on the left.

My question is how much capacity do you loose by retarding the transport veinsIJ With removing everyother wire in the number 2and3 concave would it not be sufficientIJ Just my 2 cnts.

How many separator bars do you have on your rotor. You should have at least 6 for corn.

How much loss are we talking about and how good is the cornIJ I thought I was putting over a little too much untill I went by some neighbors fields with older walker John Deere's, wow, I could graze those suckers for a while! Chads

Yes, I retarded the veins, I think the biggest problem we are having is that we are putting to much foriegn material through because the plants haven't lost any leaves yet, do you think gordon bars would be a good investment. Also I guess a little loss isn't that bad with 200 bu. corn. Just hate to see it go out the back.

try closing your concave down. in heavy leafy corn i run mine at 1 to 1.5 on the gauge. it helps clean the leafs and stalks off the concaves. if you want to see how it works, just turn the key off when you are going down the field and open up the side cover. you will be supprised to see how much trash is over the concave, and not letting the corn through. with the concave closed, it will wipe the trash off the concave, leaving more room for the grain to fall through. realy made a difference on my machine.

Do you have trouble with broken cobs with the rotor closed that tightIJ

Back off the rotor speed to 450 RPM and reduce the concave clearance somewhat. That is what I did with my 1660 to cure this problem.
