Combines Rotor losses from a hypered N 5

We have the crop retarder in can't remember part number and I believe we also took out some more of the short helicals on the separator section along with the f2 bar in belly. We also have the Hyper built seperator grate in and we still had a little more loss than we liked in corn. We finally put in 2 reverse bars, i believe on the lower position on high low part of rotor and have it where we want and did not notice any power loss when doing this. We do have a cummins powerplant which will make a difference i am sure. others will hopefully chime in with what they did.

Have a P1 R60, did all the upgrades, including sep. grate. Had unacceptable rotor loss in corn. Installed two reverse bars in hi posistion on sep. side. lots better for loss. No noticeable difference in cob breakage or power consumption with reversers in.

What do you guys do with the concaves in these old P1s when corn is in your rotation of cropsIJ Remove everyother wire, raise wires, or install jobber concave that you can get with high wide wiresIJ Do you drop back of concave open to try get concave as concentric as posible for cornIJ It would be nice to know what you guys are doing to thresher concaves to prevent any plugging with corn cobs or MOG. TIA Gleaner used to have what they called corn door kit. It replaced three or four of the removable cage doors with 1"X1" holes to doors with 1"X1 1_4" holes. This provided a longer slot for the corn to exit cage and enter cleaning area. This promted us to do a little experimenting this year with longer slots in P3. We went with 1"X2 3_4" in the removable seperator cage door. Don't know about doing that if your using reverse bars but don't look like any problem if using sweeps or a Bison. Anyway maybe that will give you guys a little food for thought if looking for more. Take care

We have been using standard concave. Pulled every other wire and yes drop back concave to help keep cobs whole when in corn. With every other wire out we do not have much trouble plugging concave with cobs. BTW, we replaced rotor with St. Johns after 5-6 seasons on Hyper. left all other hyper mods in place. Brian
