how were you backing off the gear it should be ran with a electric moter an a chain that holds it thereIJ I know 1460 are getting old and will have electric problems
I would look at the thrust bearings the ones with grease zerts by the rotor drive pulley "by the chopper gearbox". Have seen thease go bad and slowly slow down the rotor
