had the same problem with my 1460 last year had to tie some wire to the chain to stop it from slowing down and take of the chain and adjust the speed up with a big screwdriver and lock it up with the chain and wire again, pain in the neck but worked had no wet days to fix it after harvest had the moter only rebushed because I was trading up work fine all the salesmen gave it a work out. New one may be the go if you holding on to the header for a long time. My one worked when testing it with the chain off but woodent have enof power to do it set up and lost speed to.

check the bushings on the shaft with the chain sproket on it and the bushing on the gear that mesh to it. they are inexpencive and easy to put in. if they are worn, it will lock up when you try to speed up and can allow the gears to slip by each other. the little motor on my 1480 unit is a winshield wiper motor. automotive parts store can match it up. hope this helps
