Combines rotor speed in dry cornIJIJ

We run a R60 with a P3 processor and all the hyper upgrades. This year in 13-14% corn we were running rotor speed around 180-200 rpms. Even before the upgrades we would run around 250 or so in very dry corn. Be sure your helical bars are good and sharp, this will make threshing easier and you won't grind up so many cobs, easing the load on the shoe. Todd

We also run rotor all the way slowed up in the dry corn with hyper upgrades installed. The slower we went with the rotor the quiter and smoother it got. We don't have large amounts of corn in this area so there is no head larger than 8 row. With lower yeilds and small heads we don't fully test the capacity of these machines in corn. I do know that one variety of corn as compared to another can make all the difference on how it flows threw machine. Don't be afraid of going to extremes with adjustment to see what works best for you.

Slow'er down and see what happens. We never run ours over 350 even in high moisture corn up to 35%. In dryer corn, we'll slow it down below 300 and have great results with tremendous capacity for our size machine. Good luck!

I run slow as the rotor will go and open up the concave if you are cracking. Unless you have an 8 row head and in very good corn you will not over load the machine.
