I bought a set several years ago from Harvest Services that I used in a 1440 to reduce the friction of green stem beans. It was one of the modifications that I made to get more capacity out of the 1440. I kept them when I traded for a 1666,but left the reg. concaves in the 1666 this year.I was disapointed in the 'hanging in there' ability of the 1666 compared to the 1440.Don't know if the difference is in the concaves or the diff. between the IH and Cummins engines. long story short-I'm going to put the round bars back in next year.JD and NH both use round bars in their rotary corn_bean machines so the concept is not foreign.I think that separating is better with no rods at all. Anyone on here with some corn left and out of the field due to rain,it would be interesting to pull all the rods out to see what happens.I'm always experimenting and if I had a few acres left,I would try it myself.
