Combines roundup beans

I had just finished reading an article in the Progressive Farmer about the price differential when I read your post. I am wondering what do each of you pay for Roundup. I paid about $32.50 per gal. this past year. I bought mine in 30 gal drums. I think it might be interesting to see what others pay, especially our friends in Canada and Australia. I have been told that American-made equipment is often sold in other countries at much smaller prices. Doesn't seem right!

They just charge what market is willing to bear. Their pricing scheme has nothing to do with things like cost of production, just maximizing profits. lots of farmers complain about tech fees and RR price in my area, but also think its impossile to raise soybeans any other way. Evidently, RR prices and tech fees are not too high for soybean production since well over half of the nations beans are RR. If enough farmers would go back to raising conventionals the RR price would certainly decline. I see nothing of the sort around here.

I just paid 29.90 today for Roundup Ultra from a local dealer. It was in 120 minibulk. I do not know if that is high or low for my area.

monsantos patent for the active ingreadent in round up has expired. soon you will be able to buy generic brands and the price should go down. however they may try to make up the difference by raising the tech fee.

This past growing season we paid $7_l or $26.6_gal and that's in Canadian funds. The exchange rate was about 1.47 at that time so that would be $18.10_gal US. That was for a generic brand called Credit. Round-up Transorb worked out to $23.27_gal US. As for TUF I think it was $7_50lb bag Cdn. I'm not sure though because I have never grown RR beans.

I agree that if we all would go back to conventional soybeans the price of the tech fee and the price of Round up would drop. I still wonder sometimes if there is a yield drop to RR beans too IJ RR beans have made some farmers that struggle with weeds look like geniuses.

One reason roundup is higher here than in other parts of the world is because the good old envirmentlist outlawed alot of stuff. So most the cheaper stuff in other counties has differant addivtives that we cannot have here. But i belive prices will start to fall.

I agree with Brian as long as the farmer only complains about the high price of things -equipment chemicals seed and fertilizer( dont even get me started on that one) the manufacturers of these items will continue to make the american farmers pay for them to get a foot hold in 3rd world markets which will sooner or later cause our prices to be less hmmm I think its too late!!!! but what can we really do about it!!! complain and pay it or quit!!!

Not sure what your difficulty is but the roundup gene in the soybean plant shouldn't cause any problem. Just like with conventional beans some varieties may be shorter or have tougher stems or whatever but don't blame the roundup gene. To date, it's by far the best way to raise soybeans.
