I'm not sure which way to answer your question, but if you are asking which side of the auger shaft to put the paddle, I prefer it to be in the passive direction. In other words, if you look from the rear of the machine and your augers turn clockwise, I put the paddle on the right side of the auger shaft with the paddle pointing upwards. This way the paddle will fold back as the auger turns if need be. If you put the paddle in the agressive position, it can have more tendancy to rap in vinier crops. Is that what you ment, or am I on the wrong side of the questionIJIJ

On a 16xx series combine the flaps go on the right hand side. Seems they were on the left side on the 14xx series. Your operators manual has section on them and when to add or move them.

It goes on the left side in order to push some of the material to the other side of the chaffer since th rotor tends to overload the left side. My neighbor even has them on the first two augers to even it out on his 2188.

The rubber paddle is put on the left hand outer pan auger about 4-5" from the end of the flighting. The purpose of the paddle is to throw a small amount of grain up between the rotor cage and combine body to prevent trash bridging. later 2300 series combine have the auger flighting welded on in a reverse twist to the rest to throw the grain towards the sieves rather than the body of the combine and that is all the throw that was needed to correct any problem. The 1400 series used the paddles to distribute grain but the 1600 series and beyond have adjustable concave mounts to adjust the concave pinch point relative to the rotor rasp bars. Check this adjustment because if your dealer did not check this when machine was new the factory does not either. Check this first, I would not put extra paddles on the bed augers it will result in a dirty sample that you will not be able to clean up.
