45 bu_acre grain and 80 small square bales straw in south ontario with kept over seed and 45 lbs_acre actual nitrogen applied in spring.

45 bpa seems really low to me for a plant that has a head 6" long. Grew some for seed, cover crop, a few years ago and it made 100 bpa - should have made 150 - planted it into corn stalks and head scab knocked about 1_3 of the potential. DON'T OVER FERTIlIZE IT!! That stuff will get tall w_too much N - first time I grew it I put 80n of N on and it got over 6' tall. For me, 30 - 45n of N is plenty.
